Colin the Childline Counsellor

Raised over £250k

for Childline

The NSPCC wanted to raise funds for their Childline service and celebrate their fantastic contribution to children in the UK. After working closely with their team, we agreed that a film would help bring the work of the service to life.

Rather than going down a statistics heavy approach, we focused on one fantastic story, believing it to be a more emotive and engaging way to showcase Childline. Enter Colin Butler.

Colin is the longest serving counsellor working at the NSPCC’s Childline. Over his 30 years working at Childline, Colin massed some incredible stories and these, coupled with his hobbies, highlighted the people behind the phone and the vital work they do.

We spent time with him to understand what it meant to him to be a part of ChildlIne, and ultimately found a moving memory to bring to life in the film.

The success of the film led to Colin becoming a celebrity within the NSPCC and it has subsequently been re-purposed for wider areas of the organisation, one specifically for recruiting new volunteers to help run the Childline service.

The film was used at marketing events and has been credited with helping to raise over £250,000 for the charity.
